This blog contains information regarding my new jewelry designs and new techniques learned along my way, and also the wonderful people that I
have met during this creative time in my life.

New to blogging

| 10 March, 2011 16:28

Okay everyone who might read this, I have had this new feature on my website, "blog"  and have been afraid to use it, stupid I know, but just not familiar with how they work, so here goes.

I am a jewelry artist for many reasons, I love working with my hands, I love to create beautiful things and of course beauty is in the eye of the beholder so what I think is beautiful others may not, that is what makes the human race so wonderful.  Another reason is I find it takes my mind away from daily stressors, which compared to many people my stressors are nothing, I am not complaining.  One more reason I love this passion of mine is that I get to meet so many wonderful people at art fairs, etc., all with their own stories that I find so interesting and teach me things along the way.

I donate 10% of my proceeds from my website and fairs to the Alzheimers Association in honor of my beautiful, kind mother.  Although, so far it is not as much as I would like, but that will come, one of my mother's lifelong sayings "patience is a virtue".  I wonder if for some reason that was such an important saying to her because of the things to come, "Alzheimers"  teaching us to be patient which has been a challenge to me at times.

So, is this what what I am supposed to write about in a blog?  Please help me out!

Mom passed this December from end stage alzheimers, It is such a very cruel disease One thing you have to remember is that you are grieving, you are grieving that she doesn't remember those special things, BUT, it is you that remembers, not her. Take care of yourself and surround yourself with help, friends, family. If you ever have any questions, please feel free to comment again on my blog! Best wishes, Lauren

Tea has always been a omrfcot drink for me and I'm sipping my favourite Bourbon Street Vanilla Rooibos as I type.My mother always loved her tea too and had only a wedge of lemon in it.She's been in a nursing home with Alzheimer's for 5 years now. Just recently mother has been refusing her beloved tea while saying she doesn't like it and pushes the mug away. It's little things like this that break your heart and so I sympathize with your friend for what she's going through.
